Southern Pine Electric’s Members Helping Members Grant Program Now Accepting Applications

Southern Pine Electric’s Members Helping Members Grant Program Now Accepting Applications

Southern Pine Electric is now accepting applications for its Members Helping Members community grant program. Eligible non-profit and community-based  organizations in the co-op’s 11-county service area can apply from August 1 through August 31. Applications are simple to complete and must be submitted online at southernpine.coop/MHM.

Members Helping Members is a charitable program supported by Southern Pine Electric members who voluntarily round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar. The extra cents—averaging just $6 per account each year—are collected in the Southern Pine Electric Trust Fund and used to support local organizations that make life better for our communities.

“This program shows the strength of our members and what can happen when we all pitch in a little to help one another,” said Darnell Moffett, Director of Community Development. “The funds stay right here at home and support the groups that are doing meaningful, hands-on work in our counties. It’s a great way for members to give back and see the impact.”

Southern Pine Electric partners with the Pinebelt Foundation to review all applications and ensure funds go to projects that align with the cooperative’s mission. Grant awards may be up to $10,000 and support projects that focus on areas like public safety, education, youth programs, community services, economic development, and environmental initiatives.

The Pinebelt Foundation provides recommendations to an 11-member advisory committee, with one representative from each county in Southern Pine’s service area. Award announcements for this application cycle will be made in November.

To learn more or begin the application process, visit southernpine.coop/MHM. Applications must be submitted online. Mailed or hand-delivered applications will not be accepted.
