The Mississippi Farmers Market will host its 5th annual Great Mississippi Peanut Boil on Saturday, September 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Shoppers can enjoy live music from Vincent Venturini, Fred Greene and Friends, and plenty of fresh boiled peanuts from Rogers Farms while supplies last.
"Peanuts are a proud part of southern culture and Mississippi agriculture, and this event is a great way for families to taste, enjoy and celebrate the harvest," said Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson. "We are grateful for our growers and partners for bringing a true, southern staple and kicking off our fall market."
In addition to complimentary boiled peanuts, shoppers will find a variety of meat and dairy products; coffee; jams and jellies; breads and other baked goods; seasonal produce; flowers and plants; handcrafted items; and more available for purchase.
"We appreciate Rogers Farms of Collins, Mississippi, for their participation in this annual event," said Commissioner Gipson. "With a variety of local farm vendors, the Genuine MS® Store and approximately five hundred pounds of boiled peanuts, there's something for everyone to enjoy at this year's Great Mississippi Peanut Boil."
