The residents of Peach Tree Village Assisted Living are proving that generosity knows no age. On Thursday, November 6th, from 10:00 to 11:30 p.m., the senior community will host a shoebox packing event in support of Operation Christmas Child, a global outreach program by Samaritan’s Purse that delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need worldwide.
Held in the Community Room, the event will bring together residents, staff, and volunteers to fill shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and heartfelt notes of encouragement. Each box is a small package of joy, destined to brighten the life of a child across the globe.
This marks the first year Peach Tree Village has hosted the event, and it’s already become a highlight of the season. Residents earn “Peach Tree BUCKS” throughout the year, which they can spend in the on-site Peach Tree Store. For this special occasion, the store has been stocked with items perfect for shoebox packing—allowing residents to use their bucks to purchase items for each shoebox for children. Never too old to join this great ministry that touches children, families, and communities around the world.
This year, volunteers across Central Mississippi aim to collect more than 20,000 shoeboxes as part of the global goal to reach 12 million children. Each shoebox is not only a gift—it’s an opportunity to share the Gospel and bring joy to a child who may have never received a present before.
