Pelahatchie delivered one of its most complete performances of the season, rolling past Newton 81–51 behind a season-high scoring effort. The Chiefs controlled the game from start to finish, applying steady pressure on both ends of the floor and never allowing the Tigers to gain momentum. The win marked Pelahatchie’s ninth victory this season by a margin of 20 points or more, underscoring the team’s growing consistency.
Laterrion Irvin and Zion Grant set the tone offensively. Irvin was efficient and assertive, finishing with 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting while adding five rebounds. It was his highest scoring output since November and a clear reflection of his confidence. Grant followed with 21 points, shooting 41 percent from the field and providing a steady scoring presence throughout the game. Tyson Beeman also contributed, chipping in seven points to support a balanced team effort.
The victory continued a strong stretch for Pelahatchie, which has now won five of its last six games to improve to 12–9 on the season. During that span, the Chiefs have averaged just over 69 points per game, showing noticeable improvement on the offensive end. For Newton, the loss dropped the Tigers to 6–14 and marked their third consecutive road defeat.
Both teams will face Lake in their next outings. Pelahatchie will travel to take on the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Newton will return home to host Lake at the same time on Tuesday.
