Pelahatchie High School is welcoming new staff members for the 2026-27 school year, including Shauna Williams, who brings a passion for literacy and helping students overcome learning challenges.
Williams said her decision to become an educator was deeply personal and inspired by her family.
"My 'why' is my children," Williams said. "All three of my children have dyslexia, and watching my older two struggle in their school districts had a profound impact on me. Seeing the challenges they faced motivated me to return to school and pursue a career in education. I want to be an advocate for students who struggle with reading and learning differences, just as my own children have. Through my experiences as a parent, I have developed a deeper understanding of the importance of effective literacy instruction, patience, and individualized support. My goal as a teacher is to help students build confidence in their abilities and provide them with the tools they need to succeed. I hope to create a classroom where all students feel supported, valued, and capable of achieving their full potential, regardless of the challenges they may face."
Williams joins the Pelahatchie High School faculty with a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed and grow.
