The Pelahatchie Chiefs started the 2026 season on the right foot Friday night, defeating Pisgah 27-19 at home.
Pelahatchie entered the season looking to build off a 5-6 finish last year and did just that in its opener. The Chiefs scored 27 points and held off Pisgah to begin the year with a 1-0 record.
The win continues the improvement Pelahatchie has shown over the past several seasons. After winning just two games in 2023 and three in 2024, the Chiefs improved to five wins and a playoff appearance last season.
Pelahatchie will now have an opportunity to start the season with back-to-back wins when it stays home to face Enterprise on Friday night.
With a win already under its belt, Pelahatchie will look to continue its strong start and build momentum before region play begins later in the season.
