The Pelahatchie Chiefs came up just short Thursday night, falling 22-20 against Newton at home.
Pelahatchie entered the matchup coming off a 45-7 victory over West Lincoln. The Chiefs had won three of their previous four games after opening the season with three consecutive losses.
Thursday was a much closer contest, but Newton was able to come away with the two-point victory.
The loss drops Pelahatchie to 3-4 on the season. After a difficult stretch in September, the Chiefs have shown improvement over the last few weeks, winning games against Sebastopol and West Lincoln.
Pelahatchie will now turn its attention to another district matchup Friday, October 16, when the Chiefs travel to Lake.
The Chiefs will look to bounce back and return to .500 as they continue the second half of their season.
