Pelahatchie High School battled Puckett in a competitive matchup Thursday night but ultimately came up short, falling 20–14.
The six-point defeat saw the Chiefs remain within one possession of their opponent, continuing a stretch of competitive football as the regular season reached its final stages.
Pelahatchie managed 14 points against a Puckett defense that limited the Chiefs' offensive production. On the other side, Puckett scored 20 points to secure the victory.
Despite the loss, the close margin reflected a contest in which Pelahatchie remained within reach of a positive result.
For the Chiefs, the game represented another opportunity to measure their progress against familiar competition. With the postseason approaching, consistency on both sides of the football remains an important focus.
The defensive effort gave Pelahatchie a chance to compete, with Puckett finishing at 20 points. However, the Chiefs were unable to generate enough offense to overcome the deficit.
Close contests often come down to execution in critical situations, and Thursday's result left Pelahatchie searching for the additional scoring production needed to turn a competitive performance into a victory.
As the season moves forward, the Chiefs will look to build on the positives from the matchup while addressing the areas that prevented them from earning the win.
The loss to Puckett serves as another chapter in Pelahatchie's 2026 campaign, with the program continuing its effort to finish the season on a positive note.
