Through door decorating contests, "Vegas"-themed crafts, and homecoming float preparation, I can’t say enough how proud I am of our staff, students, and community for the energy they have brought to our campus throughout the week. We look forward to capping off the week with a victory as we host Velma Jackson, followed by a fun and safe homecoming dance for our student body!
Switching gears and as a reminder, the end of the first term is Friday, October 8. To start the second nine weeks, the Rankin County School District has embedded a Fall Holiday on Monday and Tuesday (Columbus Day and a Teacher Professional Development Day, respectively) for our students. What a great opportunity for us all to reset and refocus for the second nine weeks. We hope that rest and relaxation is on the agenda for you during this extended weekend!
As October brings on cooler weather, we are reminded of a transition into the winter sports season. With lots of experience returning from last year’s squad, Coach Jones' Girls Basketball Program is preparing for yet another stellar year. We are also excited to introduce to you Coach Jerrick Porter and Coach Matthew Bobo. In his first year as Head Boys basketball coach, Coach Jerrick Porter is excited about building a program around a tremendous group of young men. Not to be outdone, Coach Matthew Bobo has been trusted with guiding both of our Girls and Boys soccer programs this year.
We look forward to seeing you all at these events; keep a close eye to our athletics calendar on our social media outlets. Go Chiefs!
