Robert J Barnes, President and CEO of PriorityOne Bank announces new elects

Robert J. Barnes, President and CEO, PriorityOne Bank, recently announced the election of Charles R. Prince to the National AICPA Peer Review Board for a three-year term as the NASBA’s regulatory representative. The Peer Review Board is the senior technical committee governing the Peer Review Program. The primary activities of the PRB are to establish and conduct, in cooperation with state CPA societies, a Program for AICPA members engaged in the practice of public accounting.

The mission of the PRB is achieved through establishing and conducting the Program. This includes developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing comprehensive Standards for Performing and Reporting on Peer Reviews (Standards) and related guidance for firms subject to peer review, those performing peer reviews and others involved in administering the Program for the PRB.

In addition, the PRB is responsible for overseeing the entire peer review process.

The Peer Review Board (Board) is responsible for maintaining, furthering, and governing the activities of the Program, including the issuance of peer review standards, and peer review guidance, while being mindful of the profession's covenant to serve the public interest with integrity and objectivity.

Barnes stated, "This is a very distinguished honor that very few CPAs ever achieve, and we are proud to have Mr. Prince as part of the POB Team serving on our Board and as Chairman of our Audit, Compliance and Risk Committee!"



Robert J. Barnes, President and CEO, PriorityOne Bank, also recently announced the election of James O. Bassi to the PriorityOne Bank Board of Directors.

James is a native of Leland, MS. He graduated from Leland High School in 1972 then went on to attend MS Delta Community College, and Mississippi State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. James is a member of the Mississippi Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Bassi graduated from the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking of the South in 1989.

James previously served as the Executive Vice President of Operations for PriorityOne Bank, formerly Bank of Simpson County from 1983-1990. Prior to joining Bank of Simpson County, James was a Senior Auditor at Arthur Anderson & Co. James is currently working as the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Accounting Officer at LLOG Exploration, which is one of the largest privately owned oil and natural gas producers in the United States.

Barnes stated, "I have known James for many years and have the utmost respect for him and his ability to add significant value to our Board of Directors."

James has long been involved in many community service oriented roles, such as the Board of the Cathedral School in Natchez and his church financial committee; he enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. Bassi is married to the former Debra K. Herrington of Magee, MS and the couple currently resides in Mandeville Louisiana.

PriorityOne Bank, based in Magee, Mississippi, operates fifteen offices in twelve Mississippi communities: Collins, Seminary, Sumrall, Hattiesburg, Magee, Mendenhall, Richland, Brandon, Ridgeland, Flowood, Pelahatchie, and Morton. The bank has assets of approximately $1 Billion.
