Chris Doster and his family became members of the Pelahatchie School community around five years ago. You would think they had been around forever the way they immersed themselves and became priceless members of our community. If there was a musical, a PHS sporting event or any need at all, Chris and his family are always one of the first to volunteer to help. Chris is self-employed and his wife, Kim, is an assistant teacher at Pelahatchie Elementary. Their twin children, Kenner and Collins, are juniors at Pelahatchie High School.
There are so many wonderful things that could be said about this family. The Doster family do things with passion and purpose, and now it’s our turn to follow their example and join them in their battle. There will be a benefit on April 10 to raise funds to help the family with general and medical expenses.
Chris had surgery in June 2017 to remove cancerous cells and was cleared. In October of that same year the cancer cells returned and had metastasized to the lymph nodes around his bladder. With that came the diagnosis of Stage 4 bladder cancer. Chris continued to work through all of this, but recent medical treatments have made it nearly impossible for Chris to work full time.
This is where our community steps in…
